Search Engine Optimization

You can configure optional meta tag fields to increase the likelihood of the category page being successfully browsed, indexed, and categorized by search engines such as Google, Yahoo!, and Bing. Search engine optimization is essentially a marketing practice - the more search engines that browse and index the pages on a site, the easier it should be for visitors to find that page.

Category URL Text

The value entered here will be used to create the category's static URL if Search Engine Optimization Friendly URLs is enabled. For example, if you enter "Sweaters" here, the SEO-Friendly URL for articles in this category will be something like: www.myvolusionstore.com/sweaters_s/productname.htm rather than www.myvolusionstore.com/category_s/product.htm

Meta Tag Keywords This text field can hold various key words that relate to the category and the contents to be displayed within it. Again, these values will not be displayed to customers but will be indexed by search engines. These are essentially terms merchants would want their customers to search for to find the category using Internet search engines. Each keyword must be separated by a comma (there should be no comma succeeding the final keyword value in this field).
