To simplify order processing, we've made a number of changes to the order details page in Winter 09. If you're familiar with Version 5, there are a few things you should know before upgrading.
Watch this video or read the transcript below.
The first significant change you may notice is the absence of the quick order processing section.
In Winter 09, the page sections are laid out by task.
As in Version 5, the label printing options available to you depend on the live rate shipping methods for which you've registered.
Note that in Winter '09, the Payment Log has been separated from the payment information section to reduce confusion.
- First, click the Lock Order button at the top so your customer can't edit the order as you process it.

- Next, collect payment. All stores are set by default to authorize payments at sale. Unless you've changed your payment gateway settings, evaluate the order for legitimacy, then press Apply next to the Capture command in the Payment Log.

- To the right, you'll find the option to print your invoice or packing slip for the delivery.

- Click Invoice to print the order invoice.

- Next, scroll down to the Tracking section to identify the shipping method.

- Once the shipping method has been identified, scroll up to the Shipping Labels section and select the option that corresponds to your shipping method carrier.

- Review the label form carefully and fill out all the required fields.

- When finished, select Get Rate to obtain the shipping cost. Then, click Get Label to finalize the settings.

- Finally select View/print label to generate the shipping label.

- Once you've obtained the tracking number, input it the Tracking section and press Save at the bottom.

- Then click the Complete Order button at the top.

Another change you may notice is a redesign of the Order Comments section. In Version 5, public comments and private comments displayed together, and a preview of customer notes was offered near the top, with full view available on the customer profile page.

In Winter 09, all three note fields are consolidated into a single tab-based display, with public comments selected by default.

You may also notice that the admin area navigation has changed. In Version 5, the tabs were color-coded.

In Winter 09, each selected tab is the same color.

Note that the tabs now utilize hover-over functionality in place of click functionality
