Posting to Facebook and Twitter from within your store


The Social page lets you post directly to Twitter and Facebook from within your store. You can send any kind of message to these networks, particular if you want to promote products or categories, as you can search, find and add links without leaving the Social page. Bit.ly is used to create the smallest URLs possible for these links.

These procedures assume you have already created Twitter and Facebook accounts for your store.

You can post from the Social page in the Admin area or, if you want to post about a specific category or product, from the actual category or product page.

Posting from the Social page

If you post from the Social page, you can select multiple categories or products to include in the post. You can also creating posts that do not mention categories or products, if required.

  1. Go to Marketing > Social. Show

 

The Social page is displayed. Show

  1. If you are already signed into your Facebook and/or Twitter account(s), these account names will be displayed. If not:
    1. Click on the Sign In link(s) to the right of the platform logo. Show
    2. Enter your email address and password into the appropriate fields Click Login for Facebook Show and Authorize App for Twitter  Show
    3. If you have a Facebook business page as well as a personal page, you will need to select the page to which you want to post. Show
    4. Confirming messages are displayed to show that you can now post, and the account names you will be posting as.
  1. If you want to post to just one of the networks and have both enabled,  unselect the appropriate checkbox to temporarily disconnect.   Show
  2. Enter your message. Show
  3. If you want to add links to Products or Categories, click the appropriate button beneath the message box tol open the View Product Show or View Categories Show display.
  4. To select a product:
    1. By default, products are listed by product name. To display by Product Code, click View Products by Code.  To return to Product Names, click View Products by Name. Show
    2. Either scroll down and search or enter part of  the product name  in the search field.
    3. Check the button for the required product. Show
  1. To select a category:
    1. By default, categories are listed by category name. If you want to display them by Category Code, click View Categories by Code.  To return to Category Names, click View Categories by Name. Show
    2. Either scroll down and search or enter part of the name of the Category in the search field.
    3. Check the button for the required category.Show

 

When you check a product or category, its URL will displayed in the field at the bottom. Show

  1. Click the Add button; this converts the URL into a shortened  bit.ly URL and inserts it at the end of your comments. You can add as many URLs to your comments as required, or as space will allow in the case of Twitter. Show
  2.  Click Share to post this message to the selected network(s). Show

 

A confirming message is displayed, with links to the post(s). Show

The message will now be displayed in Twitter Show and/or Facebook Show

Note on Facebook Account Type

In order to successfully log in to your Business Facebook page and post from within your Admin area, the Facebook Business page must have been created from a personal Facebook account. If your Facebook Business page was not created from a personal account, you will encounter an error when attempting to log in at Marketing > Social.

Posting from a Category or Product page

Posting from the Share popup available from the Category or Product pages is similar to that described above, except you can only post a link to the category or product page from where you have launched the popup. The link is displayed in the message window when launched.

To launch the Share popup:

  1. Go to the appropriate product or category page and click the Share button.  Show.
