Common Questions and Answers for Deal of the Day

Q. I can't find the product I want to use in the Deal of the Day product finder.

A. Only products that can be used for Deals of the Day are displayed in the Deal of the Day selection tool. See below for a list of Product Restrictions.

Q. One of my deals shows a  icon in the Deal of the Day list.

A. This is probably because someone has edited the settings for this product since the deal was created, and it now cannot be used in Deals. See below for a list of Product Restrictions.

Q. My Deal of the Day page is not showing any deals.

A. Go to Marketing > Deal of the Day > Settings > Deal of the Day Settings and make sure the Enable Deal of the Day check box is selected. Check that you have at least one active deal.

Q. I have Deal of the Day enabled, but my deal is not showing when the deal is active (or is being displayed when the deal is inactive).

A. Check the Begins At and Ends At settings in the Deal Details to ensure that it is active for only the required period. Deals start at 12:00:00 AM on the Begins At date and end at 11:59:59PM on the Ends At date. These times both use the timezone that you set on your Company page. (Settings > Company)

Q. My deal is not showing my stock of the product.

A. Check that you have Show Stock Status for applicable products checked in the Deal of the Day settings. Then check that the products for which you want to show stock quantities have (1) a quantity in the Stock Status field and (2) have the Do Not Allow Backorders box checked on their Advanced Settings > Stock tabs.

Q. How do customers find the Deal of the Day page?

A Unless you leave the Show Link in Navigation Menu drop-down showing Hidden on the Deal of the Day settings, there will be a Deal of the Day link in the selected menu.

Q. Can I use a temporary product as a deal of the day?

A. Yes. If the Display Begin Date is in the future, the product will show in the Deal of the Day product picker. However, the Deal will not function until the Display Begin Date. If the Display End Date has passed, the product will not be eligible for use.

Product Restrictions

A product cannot be used, or will result in an invalid deal, if any of the following apply:

  • It has been deleted between the creation of the deal and the deal becoming active
  • It has been set up with child products
  • It has a value in the Is Child Of Product Code field (Inventory > Products > Advanced Settings > Misc)
  • It has the Private Section Customer Only section checked (Inventory > Products > Advanced Settings > Product Display)
  • It has a Setup Price (Inventory > Products > Advanced Settings > Pricing)
  • It has a Recurring Price (Inventory > Products > Advanced Settings > Pricing)
  • It has Hide Product checked (Inventory > Products > Advanced Settings > Product Display)
  • It has Hide Product When Out Of Stock checked (Inventory > Products > Advanced Settings > Product Display)
  • It has a value other than NULL in the Min Qty field (Inventory > Products > Advanced Settings > Misc)
  • It has Allow Price Edit checked (Inventory > Products > Advanced Settings > Misc)
  • It has text in the AddtoCartBtn Replacement Text field (Inventory > Products > Advanced Settings > Product Display)
  • It has Enable Options Inventory Control checked (Inventory > Products > Basic Product Info)

Additionally, please keep in mind that Deal of the Day is not compatible with Members-Only Purchasing and Browsing settings.
