The Volusion Facebook Store Feature

The Volusion Facebook Store feature allows you to promote and market products in the growing social commerce market with a special storefront on your Facebook business page – display products, promotions, and much more. Customers can even add products to their cart in your Facebook store, then click Check Out to go to your main storefront and complete their purchases.

The look of your storefront can be customized with graphics, HTML-formatted text, and a selection of color themes.

The Facebook Store is available for all hosting plans in V13. Keep in mind that Facebook requires any websites associated with Facebook apps be SSL certified. If you are not SSL certified and want to use this feature, see our SSL Certification page.

Set up your Facebook Store in four steps.

Step One – Select and Manage Products

If you want to showcase some of your products on your Facebook store, select the individual products that will appear. We recommend displaying a maximum of 25 products at a time.

  1. In your Admin Area, go to Marketing > Facebook Store.
  2. In the Select & Manage Products section, make sure the Enable button is set to Yes.
  3. From the Select Products menu, select the products you want to display.
  4. In the Default Sort By menu, select how you want the products to display.
  5. Configure your Deal of the Day settings as needed.

Step Two – Manage Promotions

Once you set up your products, you can offer a discount to visitors who "like" your Facebook page. The discount will apply to any products listed on your Facebook store.

Enabling the "Like" Promotion

To set a discount percentage, scroll to the Manage Promotions section and do the following:

  1. Next to Enable, select Yes.
  2. Enter the Discount as a percentage that will apply to all products in your Facebook store.
  3. Click Save.

Visitors who click the Like button will now receive this discount on all products listed in your Facebook store. If they unlike your store, they will no longer be entitled to the discount.

How to Create "Like" Banners

You can create two separate banners for your "like" promotion: an invitation banner that encourages visitors to "like" your page, and a thank you banner that informs visitors of any discounts they've earned.

Note: Effective November 5, 2014, Facebook's policy prohibits the use of discounts as incentive for "liking" a Facebook page. While we recommend against using your invitation banner to advertise discounts, you can let customers know about any earned discounts using the thank you banner instead.

Notes

Due to Facebook restrictions, the Facebook Store app is not compatible with mobile devices at this time. Customers can take advantage of your company's Facebook Store when visiting Facebook from a desktop computer.

Product Restrictions

Any product can be displayed in your social store unless:

  • It has been deleted or no longer exists
  • It has the Private Section Customer Only option checked
  • It has a Recurring Price
  • It has the Hide Product option checked
  • It has the Hide Product When Out Of Stock option checked
  • It has the Allow Price Edit option checked
  • It has text in the AddtoCartBtn Replacement Text field
  • It has temporary product criteria that have not been met (Display Begin/Display End Dates)
  • It has the Multi-Child Add to Cart option selected

Special Circumstance for Product Restrictions

If a product’s settings become invalid after they are already set to display in the Facebook store, then the product will disappear from the Products list and will not display in the Facebook store. You will have to go back and change the settings which rendered the product invalid for Facebook store and manually add the product back to the Facebook store.

However, if a product is set to Do Not Allow Backorders and the item goes out of stock, the item will still appear and stay selected in the Facebook store Products list with an Out of Stock message, but will not display on the Facebook storefront until the stock quantity is greater than 0.

How to Create a Facebook Business Page

If you don't have a facebook page for your business, you'll need to create one. You cannot add the Volusion Social Store App to a personal page.

Go to http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php and click the button that most closely represents your business. Complete the fields displayed and click the Get Started button.

The next page will ask you if you already have a Facebook account or not. Check the appropriate button and follow the instructions on the screen to create a business page.

Since Facebook frequently changes their interface and navigation, you should refer to Facebook Help for more detailed information.
